CMA PMB555 Newsletter
Fall 09‚ Edition
October 2009

We hope this fall edition of the PMB555 Newsletter finds you enjoying the early days of autumn and looking forward to cooler days ahead. This summer the CMA General Service Conference Committee has been hard at work with the New York City group preparing for the 2nd annual CMA General Service Conference. The Conference will be held in New York City, March 4th through 7th, 2010. All of those interested in attending including Area Delegates and other CMA Service Members are encouraged to reserve space; register early.

As many of you may know, registration is now open for the 2010 CMA World Conference, which is being held March 4-7 in New York City. The main event is the General Services Conference, where elected delegates from the Fellowship meet together to discuss issues of importance to the future of CMA. The delegates and other voting members will meet on Friday, March 5, in their assigned conference committees, then everyone will meet on Saturday and Sunday in the conference assembly. Votes may be taken on some items, but the primary goal is to allow a forum where delegates can discuss items of importance and come to consensus.

More information about the CMA General Service Conference 2010, including a brand new FAQs can be found HERE.

So You Lost Your Meeting Space...

A recent issue developed in the Los Angeles District area where an email was distributed, that claimed a recovery house (the meeting's landlord) had canceled a CMA meeting. For the record: No landlord can cancel any 12-step meeting. A landlord can evict a meeting without cause but a landlord can never cancel a meeting. Only the group that is the 12-step meeting can cancel the meeting.

Opportunity has a strange face, but this has happened in the 12-step world, many times before. There is a history of 12-step groups needing to relocate. A member of the group waits outside the old meeting space (on the street - respecting the landlord) and tells new people or old-timers alike that the meeting has has moved or will be moving. The member of the group can also have a list of other 12-step meetings in the area that can be attended.
