Carrying the Message of CMA to the Transgender Community

Since the growing visibility of transgender and gender-expansive people in CMA, there are increasing questions about how to effectively carry the message of CMA to the transgender community. For many trans members, recovery means relying on fellows who may be unfamiliar with—or insensitive to—their lived experiences, which can undermine the Fifth Tradition: our primary purpose to carry the message to the addict who still suffers. As a result, some trans members report feeling ignored, harassed, or isolated in their recovery journeys.
In this workshop, we will hear from transgender people in recovery from crystal meth, explore the barriers they face in CMA, and identify ways to reduce harm and strengthen belonging. Participants will gain practical tools to more effectively carry the message of CMA with compassion, clarity, and respect.
